Stoke-on-Trent is one of the 66 locations across the UK that will host the Olympic Torch Relay evening celebration in Hanley Park on the 30th May 2012.
Stoke-on-Trent's pottery and ceramic industry is benefiting hugely from London 2012 with historic company Waterford, Wedgwood and Royal Doulton producing London 2012 commemorative and souvenir merchandise, which is already being sold worldwide.
This is the sub-region of choice if you wish to celebrate the Torch’s arrival and the forthcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games by dancing in 2012. Dance Connected and World of Dance have both been commissioned by West Midlands Cultural Olympiad programme, Dancing for the Games, and offer people across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, of all ages and abilities the opportunity to see, and take part in dance across a wide range of genres culminating in a spectacular showcase in the grounds of Stafford Castle on July 1st.
It’s not just dance that this region is embracing to celebrate the Games. Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire has a range of programmes for you to get involved in to have your own London 2012 experience from watching elite sport in the region including the Tour of Britain to Premier League Football to taking part in local Community Games where from dance to handball to quoits and space hopper races - anything goes!
